It all began with a dream!
A dream to build a school...
A local teacher, Victoria, dreamed of a school and a way out of devastating poverty for the children of her village. This was a dream from God.
Supporting Children to learn and develop in Butega, Uganda
This project has lifted hundreds of children out of poverty over the last 30 years. Given them an education, a start in life, enabling them to go on to help others to build more dreams for Uganda.
ETRA UK is run by volunteers who live in the city of Bath, UK. We support the work originally founded by Victoria Lwanga Lukwago who once had a dream to build a school in Uganda within her local community. The Glenburnie Butega School was built in 1993 through her motivation and with support from Rev. Alan Bain and St Philip and St James’ Church and Monkton Pre-Prep School in Bath. Generous friends from around the country and abroad continue to support the school.
In addition to the school there is now also a nursery school, a farm, a sick bay and a guesthouse. We actively update our supporters about the children in Uganda and what has been happening
“Children are at the centre of everything, therefore, every donation goes directly to the welfare of a child as a whole; education, health, nutrition and general wellbeing.”
— Victoria Lwanga Lukwago
